Mother-Baby Diaper Drive (Charity Donations)

The diaper drive collects diapers and other parenting related supplies for the Mother-Baby program. Drive goes from August 9th through September 7th. To see a list of items needed to support the Mother-Baby program, please visit www.sacramentofoodbank.org. The Mother-Baby program serves new parents in the Sacramento area by providing emergency supplies of food, clothing, toiletries and diapers. Services are available at no cost for individuals with a child under the age of two. With the recent strains in the economy, your help is needed more than ever. Although it seems summer has just begun, it will soon be back to school time again. And for California’s nearly 80,000 foster children, getting a leg up in class can be as simple as having the basic supplies. You can help make a difference in a foster kid’s life by donating new school supplies at your local Sleep Train store. Contributions will be distributed amongst Sleep Train’s 19 California foster care partner organizations.Donations will be accepted at any Sleep Train store. Bring new school supplies including pencils, pens, erasers, calculators, paper, backpacks, binders and pocket dictionaries. For more information on the location of the nearest store, please use the Sleep Train store locator at www.sleeptrain.com or call 1-800-378-BEDS (2337). Store hours are M-F 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

REQUIREMENTS: Age 16+ for Evergreen and 18+ for R4 Mandatory training [ dates are Sept. 2nd @ 12-1:30pm, Sept 10th @ 5-6:30pm, and the 11th @ 10-11:30am] The GreenHouse is always looking for Guest Speakers who would like to share their special talents with our students.R4 (7th-12th grade) is Tuesday and Thursdays from 3-6:00pm and Saturdays is our field trip day which times will vary. Free faith-based victim recovery classes called Her Journey given every Monday by A.R.M.S (Abuse Recovery Ministries and Services). This class is designed to help heal women heal from all types of domestic abuse.

Stephen Ministry Workshop (Church/Ministry Workshop)

A Stephen Ministry Workshop will be held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday September 25, 2010. The half-day workshop is designed to enhance participant's care giving skills and to help church congregations explore ways to expand their caring ministry. There will be two presenters from Stephen Ministries St. Louis Missouri. The cost of the workshop is $15 per person or $50 for a group of four or more from the same congregation. The band Starfield is making a stop in Sacramento at Liberty Towers Church for their "Saving One Tour" on September 25th at 7 pm. Study Buddies are asked to commit 2 hours per week for at least 6 months. Evergreen (1st-6th grade) is Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday from 3:00-5:45pm. REQUIREMENTS: Age 16+ for Evergreen and 18+ for R4 Mandatory training [ dates are Sept. 2nd @ 12-1:30pm, Sept 10th @ 5-6:30pm, and the 11th @ 10-11:30am] The GreenHouse is always looking for Guest Speakers who would like to share their special talents with our students.R4 (7th-12th grade) is Tuesday and Thursdays from 3-6:00pm and Saturdays is our field trip day which times will vary. Oak Avenue Youth Group (Teen Outreach)

The Oak Ave.Church Youth Group is a place where 7th - 12th graders come together to learn God's Word through practical lessons on everyday life. The Youth Group also has a lot of fun on their trips to the snow and to summer camp. Our Youth Group also puts on a breakfast once a month as a fundraiser for their trips and events. DivorceCare (Seminar)

Our current 13 week series begins September 8, 2010. 7-9pm Bayside Woodland’s Singles’ Divorce Care program uses a DVD-based curriculum that has been developed by a national Christian organization. Each week there is a lesson on a particular subject followed by a small group discussion.
